Commitment to Diversity
Diversifying myself as a journalist is essential. Leaving a rock unturned or disrespected is simply not a part of my journalistic DNA, allowing me to spread my wings far and find new and effective opportunities for growth.
WOMEN'S SPORTS
The last decade has provided the push for Women's sports to begin obtaining recognition, but I don't view this in my line of work as something that is still developing. I broadcast, write, and report on every team I cover equally and to the best of my ability regardless of gender.

HCA WOMEN'S BBALL
As a broadcaster I cover both the guys and girls basketball teams equally, oftentimes broadcasting both games back-to-back.

KC CURRENT
It helps that the Current have been really good in their inaugural season at CPKC stadium, but I don't cover the club any different than SKC. Both teams are professional and deserve to be treated that way.

PODCAST GUESTS
I have had many female podcast guests, especially early on in the podcasting days. Some of our highest listened to episodes feature female high school athletes.
High Schools
I am not an exclusive HCA broadcaster. However, through my time with HCA and 810 Varsity combined with a school switch, I have watched, broadcasted, and interview players from teams all across the Midwest. There is no way I could quantify how many I have covered, but the number is around fifty schools across Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. Schools included on the list span from some of the biggest 6A schools in Kansas to Bishop Seabury, a 1A private school in Lawrence, Kansas.
PODCAST DISTRIBUTION
It was important for me to make the podcast available in as many places as possible. Some took longer than others, but with the help of my distributor (Anchor/Spotify for Podcasters) my show is now on all SEVEN major podcasting platforms. One of my favorite parts about making this become a reality, is that now I can say that people can listen 'wherever you get your podcasts'.

LOVING LIKE JESUS
My faith is so important to me and is at the core of everything I do. As a Christian it is a part of my beliefs that everyone is created in the image of God and that allows me to love everyone regardless of what they might talk, look, or act like. Christ treated everyone the same, as people who are broken who need someone to love on them and that is my goal and approach. When the topic of diversity comes up I simply go back to this as my argument of why for me, it doesn't matter what you may look like, my job is to serve and respect you.
HOBBIES
This is not something you would usually see on a portfolio, but diversity means different things and I think it essential as a journalist to have hobbies outside of journalism to avoid burnout or to help me mentally recover from the taxing schedule that is a part of being an effective journalist.

MUSIC
I play multiple instruments, but my primary two are the Tuba and Piano. Playing and listening to music is my favorite escape to mentally reset.

WORKING OUT
Taking care of my body sets the tone for the rest of the work that I do. Working hard in the gym or on a run translates to my work in school and in journalism.

SPORTS
If it isn't already obvious, I love sports. Most of the time I am watching, but anytime I can hop into a pickup game or play with some friends I take advantage.
