JOSIAH WONNELL

"GOOD IS NOT GOOD, WHEN BETTER IS EXPECTED"
-VIN SCULLY

HI, MY NAME IS JOSIAH WONNELL

Few things excite me more than telling a story. Vocally, written, and visually. It doesn't matter. I love storytelling. Maybe that's why at ten years old I decided to become a sports broadcaster. I wanted to do a job connected with something I love: sports, but also something that allowed me to tell a story. One of my favorite stories? The one you are about to learn about—the journey of pursuing that goal. Thanks for stopping by.

DIFFERENT STYLES OF STORYTELLING

VOICE.

Throughout High School, I self-produced and provided live play-by-play for over 100 broadcasts across multiple sports—including men’s and women’s basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball. As the ‘Voice of Charger Basketball' I broadcasted from home and on the road, telling two separate stories that felt like a rollercoaster ride.

WRITTEN.

As a writer for IONYOU MEDIA, I have covered various sporting events, writing and reporting for IONYOU's site. My writings have included feature stories, match recaps, and more.

VISUALLY.

I am growing up in a highly visually influenced generation, making it an essential category in my storytelling arsenal. Whether it is photography or design, my visual works aspire to captivate the viewer and evoke an emotion rarely seen through vocal or written works.

COLLABORATION

Collaboration is the fruit of my labor, as I work to develop high-quality products to some of the biggest brands in the world to my local government and food pantry.

PERSONAL NARRATIVE

The Storyteller

In March of 2022, my father offered me an opportunity to switch schools. At the time, I was enrolled in the E-Communication Academy at my local high school, fully engaged in my goal of becoming a sports broadcaster. However, I found myself struggling in other areas of my life, leading to a challenging decision. Ultimately, I chose to follow my siblings and spend my final two years at a private school, leaving behind a robust journalism program for a school that offered little in terms of media training...
